5-8 Year Summer Camps

5-8 yr old camps include one clay project to be picked up after firing, a canvas painting and lots of other themed projects for the week. We will do some projects at adjacent Carmel Civic Square.

Camps meet from 10 – 12pm *except Pottery Wheel Fusion meets 1-4pm, in the new Turner James building, The Art Lab’s new permanent studio location.

There is a minimum of four campers and maximum of ten campers. Last summer sold out so sign up early!

Enchanted Kingdom

Explore worlds of storybook magic and mystery. From princesses, knights and castles to fairies this camp will captivate young imaginations. Just a few projects include fairies and fairy houses, clay dragons, cardboard castles, and painted unicorns.

Animal Planet

Learn and share knowledge about animals, what are your favorites? Where do they live and what do they eat? Create animals in their habitats in clay, paint and collage. Some projects include collages like artist Eric Carle, clay penguins in water bowls, and painted giraffes.

Journey Around the World

People create all over the world in different ways and in different colors. Explore the bright vibrant colors of African masks, the soft delicate painting of Japanese fans, and create prints of natural patterns found in European Art Nouveau tiles, as well as a clay and canvas project.

Dinosaurs

Can you name all the dinosaurs? Create your own fossils with plaster of paris, as well as sculpt and paint these prehistoric creatures and their environments. This camp will be full of dinosaur trivia and a dinosaur hunt in adjacent Civic Square.

Jungle Safari

Come on a jungle adventure with us. Live in the treetops and create tree houses. Swing from the vines with the monkeys, create a clay monkey friend and paint colorful toucans, as well as many fun surprise tropical projects.

Into the Great Beyond

Come travel with us into far away places including outer space and the deep oceans. Most of us have never been to these places but let’s see what we can learn and create. From astronomical paintings to clay sea life this camp will captivate the imagination.

Vehicle Adventures

Planes, trains, and automobiles. Get inspired by Turner Woodard’s car gallery and construct cardboard vehicles that move, paint a train engine, create a kite to fly like a plane in Civic Square, and sculpt a monster truck.

Art and Music 

Join our guest musician from Resounding Joy and create beautiful music through drumming, strumming, and song. In this combination camp between art and music, you will  also create your own cardboard instruments, expressive oil pastel and watercolor creations inspired by Wassily Kandinsky, and prints inspired by the pattern of sounds and beats you hear.

Pottery Wheel Fusion Travelers

Create awesome works of art with clay and glass with Jeremy South from Ripple Mobile Arts. Wooly mammoths, owls, dragons are just a few of the items we will create this week. Explore the details of creating with a combination of clay and glass. All items are made from scratch and every child will have the chance to use the pottery wheel twice. Some items will be made to make and take and some will be fired in the kiln and delivered 3-4 weeks after camp.
