7 and Up Camps
Look for age requirements for each camp as well as times, most are designed for ages 7-12yrs; however this year we have a Teen / Tween camp for ages 11 – 16 and Pottery Wheel Fusion Travelers is open to ages 6 and up. All camps include one clay project of either polymer or earthenware clay to be picked up after firing, and lots of other themed projects for the week. We will do some projects outside in adjacent Carmel Civic Square. A healthy snack is included for the afternoon camps; however children can also bring their own.
There is a minimum of four campers and maximum of twelve campers. *Pottery Wheel Fusion has a maximum number of eight campers. Last summer sold out so sign up early!

Take Two Movie Camp
Learn about how screenwriters construct a script and be a director in your own stop motion movie, created in groups of 3-4. Sculpt your caricatures from polymer clay, paint sets and construct props in cardboard. This camp will also draw story cards in the Japanese tradition of Kamishibai to tell their stories to each other.

Trash to Treasure
There are so many ways to find beauty in discarded objects. Create photograms using the sun to develop your designs. Make t-shirt yarn to turn into woven bowls as well as mobiles, jewelry, and prints with ink on paper. Print found objects into clay to create a unique picture frame, and create a painting inspired by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser and the children’s book House of Happy Spirits.

The Great Outdoors
Artists throughout the ages have been inspired by the great outdoors through photography, painting and sculpture. Learn about artist Andy Goldsworthy and create a photograph you can develop yourself using Nature Print paper. Create clay pocket plaques impressed or decorated with themes of nature, seed balls and paintings inspired by nature.

Myth and Mysteries
Do you think you have seen a Yeti? Do you like stories of buried treasure? This camp will take inspiration from the wild and mythical stories from the ancient world to today. Create maps to buried treasure, clay monsters inspired by Scylla from The Odyssey and paintings of your favorite friendly Yeti.This camp includes a BigFoot hunt in Civic Square and a game of mythbusters.

Artist Masters
Be inspired by a different artist everyday from different parts of the world and throughout time. Each day explores a new medium. Spend a day building in clay inspired by the colorful and playful pottery of Lorien Stern. Learn about pastels and drawing portraits inspired by Mary Cassatt, landscapes by Vincent Van Gogh, and create prints inspired by Andy Warhol.

Artist Passport Camp
Create your own passport book to record your travels around the world exploring culture through art. Visit a new continent each day. Create weavings and masks from Africa, paper molas and colorful painted bowls from South America. Create painted scrolls from Japan, and an interpretation of Hokusai’s Great Wave Painting. Learn about Jasper John’s American flag paintings and more surprise destinations in this camp.

Tween and Teen Art Week
This camp is especially for older students who want to focus on creating a portfolio of artwork from their own chosen theme. Projects for this camp will include a watercolor and graphite sketchbook for ideas, water soluble oil paintings, acrylic painting, and a ceramic project. Students can help focus this week with their ideas and material choices while working on design concepts.

Pottery Wheel Fusion
Create awesome works of art with clay and glass with Jeremy South from Ripple Mobile Arts. Wooly mammoths, owls, dragons are just a few of the items we will create this week. Explore the details of creating with a combination of clay and glass. All items are made from scratch and every child will have the chance to use the pottery wheel twice. Some items will be made to make and take and some will be fired in the kiln and delivered 3-4 weeks after camp. This camp has a maximum number of 10 students to register early!
